Neon Grey - Play

It's finally here. Welcome to the play of Neon Grey. Whether you're a player or just a stalker who wants to follow this roleplay, this is the place for you. If you're new here or want to check up on some background information you might want to have a look at this topic here.
The current situationAnzeigen
It’s 10am on a clear spring morning. The air is crisp and even though it’s still too cold to go outside without a jacket, in many places the scent of flowers mixes with the smells of a busy weekday.
The mission boards have been updated just a few hours ago and a number of new missions have been made available for those looking to take one on. But not everyone is as eager to find work. Many also take the time to sleep in a little, go for a morning run or hit the gym while the last people are still at breakfast or only just trickling in for work.
Story progression and recent eventsAnzeigen
Everything is going the way it has been going for a few decades now. Members of Neon Grey can go about their business without fearing many consequences from the law and generally the world seems to be in a state of stability.
The newspapers have been reporting the rise of a group that demonstrates against the presence of droids in so many everyday situations who have recently started being increasingly aggressive towards droid police forces. So far people just see them as a politically motivated splinter group though and it's controversial whether or not they have a point saying that every kind of artificial intelligence is inherently a safety threat to itself due to the possibility of it being hacked. But many brush them and their views off as a regressive group of people that barely knows what it wants to accomplish.

ExplanationAnzeigen
Every available mission is listed here in the following format
Register/Apply: to register for a mission you simply need to state in the topic for planning and character sheets which character of yours will take part in the mission. Please see if the mission is already full and if your character meets the requirements.
To apply you need to fill out a short application form (see below) and send it to the game master (Stag) in a private message.
Available places: this number will usually range between 2 and 4, if you are a group of five and would like to take on a mission together, PM Stag
Requirements: For some missions you will need to meet requirements such as "at least one character needs strength 7 or more" or "all characters need vigilance 6 or more". If this field is empty there are no requirements needed
Mission goal: the goal of the mission could be anything. "Break in and retrieve a certain item" or "disable a droid patrol" are just two examples

Missions can be started the moment the game master gives you permission to. Usually you will be sent on the mission ingame by either the leader of Neon Grey or one of the supervisors in a personal conversation or with a message on your character's communication device of choice (a holoscreen by default)

Raven Sanders - Neon Grey headquarters (her apartment -> common room)
Raven stifled a yawn as she closed the door behind herself. As with most programmers and hackers, she wasn't exactly a morning person, but sadly, life rarely waited as long as she wanted to sleep.
A large cup of coffee warmed her cold fingers that apparently hadn't yet gotten the memo that it was time to wake up and get to work. As she walked along the short hallway between her apartment and the elevator, she took a sip and felt the hot liquid wake up her tired body a little. After all, the distance between her apartment's coffee machine and the common kitchen for the Neon Grey agents was far too large to be covered without coffee. Besides, in her opinion, the coffee there tasted like dishwater.
When she entered the elevator, she quickly swiped her key and typed in her code, then leaned against the wall, waiting for the elevator to take her down to the lower levels of the building. During the ride, she quickly checked messages and news with a couple of blink signals that made them appear in her field of view via her optical implant. The same old articles and videos about the anti-droid activists populated the news sites and channels, but Raven only skimmed them before blinking them away. Instead, she pulled up articles about some new OS updates and new hardware that was currently in development.
When a "ding" sound notified her the elevator had arrived and the doors opened, she stepped out, only partly paying attention to the hallway as she was still reading news articles. She slumped down on the couch as soon as she arrived in the agent common room, still reading the news and sipping her coffee. She was technically present, which had to be enough work for the early morning hours (anything before noon).

Liam Carter - Neon Grey headquarters (climbing wall -> common room)
Blowing air out between his clenched teeth, Liam clamped down hard on the tiny handhold his fingers were currently grasping on to since it was the only thing keeping him from slipping from the wall. Carefully, he placed his right foot a little higher than it had been before, then he rotated his upper body to increase his reach. He grabbed on to a new handhold with his left hand, then pushed his center of mass over his right foot so he could replace the left one. A quick glance upward showed him he wasn't far from the top, but he quickly had to turn his head to the side again so he didn't move his upper body too far from the wall.
When both of his hands finally touched the top handhold, he jumped backwards, landing on the mats below with a swift roll to convert his downward momentum. Just as got back on his feet, his alarm clock beeped, notifying him it was 10 am. Usually, he would have preferred to extend his bouldering session a little longer, but he had a mission today and he and his brother had preparation to do.
He took a two-minute shower in the changing rooms, threw on a shirt, his combat jacket and cargo pants and made his way to the Neon Grey agent common room. He quickly nodded at other Neon Grey agents and employees as he passed them, giving them a slight, friendly smile. In the common room, he said greeted Raven Sanders, the supervisor of the hackers, with the same nod, but didn't say anything more, considering he didn't know her too well. He grabbed a glass of water from the kitchen, then sat down on one of the sofas and waited for his brother Tristan to show up so they could plan and prepare for the mission tonight.

Bot | Neon Grey Headquarters | their appartment -> common room
They woke up, heavily breathing. For a moment it was hard to say whether their surroundings were surreal or the last image of the dream were.
Bot tried to recap what happened in their dream but ended up with just a bunch of inconnectible pieces of a great senseless puzzle. They was just sure about one thing: They had breasts. No wonder it had been a nightmare.
As usual, Bot had slept long. But by now they was awake. Not awake as in 'I don't feel the painful desire to sleep anymore' but awake as in 'there's a nightmare in my head and it's waiting behind my eyes - I will stay awake until one of us dies'. After a quick warm shower they felt better, and able to start the day - probably with a big delay. But they got used to it.
Bot was more of a night person and they didn't mind being up late and all alone. When they was younger, creating something useful was easier in the night. When they tried to hide from nightmares.
They put on their clothes; just a black pair of jeans, a T-Shirt and a black hoodie, grapped their bag and left their apartment.
It was around the time anyone else was awake and done with breakfast; Bot decided to skip it.
The common room was not that crowded; they took a seat in a corner and focussed on the latest news.
On their datapad they saw several articles about new softwares and implants but they were looking for politics.
The Anti-droid activists gave them a bad feeling. While reading an article about the latest demonstration, their eyebrows knitted and they started to rock their chair backwards and forwards.
They really had a bad feeling about this.

Sol Camejo-Feliz | Neon Grey headquarters
His apartment >> common room

Sol had been up early this morning. Or well, it was like almost every morning. The nightmares were getting worse and that was, of course, followed by a lack of sleep. And since idle hands were the devil's workshop, Sol preferred to get up and do something if he couldn't sleep, rather than staring at the ceiling in silence and wait for some miracle to happen.
After all, his morning routine always took some time anyway, so getting up early was probably just fine to arrive at work on time...for once. After showering, doing his make-up and putting on a high-waist skinny jeans and black crop-top, he was good to go.
It was still pretty early, though, so he took his time having breakfast, two coffees and flipping through the news of his datapad, in the peace and quiet of his own home, before he finally, it was about ten a.m., decided to go to work.
When Sol arrived in the common room he threw his jacket over the armrest of an armchair and decided to grab himself another coffee. "Morning, Pumpkin," he greeted Jayden at the coffee machine. By now, he should be used to Sol calling him that. Not only because he gave everyone nicknames, but also because he had made a habit of calling especially Jayden Pumpkin, because of his hair color. Fiery red, he really liked that. Jayden was very hot in general. "How was your night?

Jayden || Neon Grey HQ || common room

Jayden still felt like he was half-dead. Maybe he should've listened to his body and turn around today to sleep for a few more hours instead of getting up after just four hours of sleep. Ah well, it was too late for that now so coffee was his only savior. Black and two sugars, his way to internally tell the world to fuck off because he wasn't in the mood. But then the door to the common room opened and suddenly his day looked a lot more bright. Almost like the sun had finally risen.
Ugh. Jayden leaned his head against the kitchen cabinet a tad forceful for that disgusting pun but he still smiled at Sol. "...morning" The day Sol had decided to start calling him Pumpkin had been Jayden's doom for all eternity and he'd probably never be over it. "Ah well, sleep never quite likes to work the way we want it to, does it? How about you?"

Sol Camejo-Feliz | Neon Grey headquarters
Common room, with Jayden

"Same, actually," Sol answered with a smile. Now that he paid more mind to it, Jayden did look tired. What was keeping him from sleep? Sol had often wondered about Jayden, about the things that might go on in his head. More than once he wished he could just take a look behind that pretty face of his and know what was going on there. In his thoughts, in his life. Maybe even in his heart? There were only so many things one could find out through hacking, and somehow, Sol had never quite wanted to try and hack Jayden. Or no, that was wrong, he wanted to, but he never did, out of respect for Jayden's privacy and him as a person. If he wanted to know more, he'd have to do this the old-fashioned way. "What's keeping you awake?"
